[Video] Improving Mental Health with Creative Expression

Thinking Out Loud Live | Episode 18

In this episode of Thinking Out Loud Live, we've invited our friend, Teena O'Connell, to discuss the positive advantages of creative expression to improve our mental health.

With her personal experience as a high school art teacher, she recognized the value of art, not only as a creative outlet but also as a form of healing. This has led to her pursuit of an education degree in clinical mental health counseling, with a focus on art therapy and trauma counseling.

Through the creation and discussion of art, she believes we can aid in the healing process that can be beneficial for a myriad of mental health issues, such as anxiety, addiction, or PTSD.

She has an educational background in art with a MA in Studio Painting from New York University and in counseling with a MA in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling from Kean University.

She plans to utilize the expressive arts to promote mental health awareness and mindfulness as an LPC.
